THE SECRET OF THE MISSING BOAT

Before you finish cruising the Breton islands of the Little Sea with Fanche, in his dinghy, reader interest may sink without a trace, along with the ""secret"" which seems to be buried in the mud. Fanche has salvaged his dinghy from driftwood, and now it attracts the interest of a surly stranger from Paris who suspects it might have been part of a luxury yacht which had gone down here along with a missing masterpiece of Assyrian art. Berna, who has contributed some superior mystery stories for this age group, relies on an authentic mise en scene and salubrious detail. Which may recommend it--but not to this readership which is used to a more active kind of sea hunt.
