KIRKUS REVIEW

Eight and nine year olds will like to read to themselves this story of two farm children who eventually conquered all their instincts to the contrary and gave up their most cherished possession, the weathervane they had rescued after the hurricane, and took it to the scrap drive. I like the fact that even after they had done it they were very unhappy about it -- no goody goods, this pair. The Gertrude Howe drawings are delightful. She makes appealing children, without making them too picturebook.
