PAVLOVA

Pub Date: June 30th, 1947

For followers of the dance, and specifically for Pavlova fans, this follows the same technique of editorship and format as his Nijinsky and Isadora Duncan. It is, to be specific, an illustrated monograph which in prose and picture recaptures memories of this great dancer. Anna Pavlova with the Pages of My Life recalls her own childhood, her vocation apparent from earliest awareness, her training, her first performance and tours. Carl Van Vechten lends contemporary criticism in his appraisal and appreciation of her appearances at the Metropolitan. Marianne Moore, the poet, contributes notes on her photographs, of which there are many in the book, her dance, her techniques. And appendices include chronology and bibliography.
