PICASSO: His Inner Life by Paul Eluard

The current interest in Picasso, stimulated by the largest showing of his work ever brought together, in New York, may provide some impetus to the sale of a book which only the Picasso fans would otherwise stomach. Frankly, I understood the text (bits of random prose and verse, much of it by Eluard, friend and poet) no more than I did the pictures. Eluard has chosen examples from every period of Picasso, but has made no effort to make them comprehensible to those out of sympathy with his work. Unfortunately, though some 150 reproductions are included, there is only one- and that a spot- in color.
