LUCKY STARR AND THE OCEANS OF VENUS

The threat of an Orwellian world greets young Lucky Starr on his latest mission (see Lucky Starr and The Pirates of the Asteroids)-to Venus to thwart the disruption of her yeast trade. Sent by the important Council of Science, Lucky is briefed by a fellow councilman on arrival at the domed sea-city of Aphrodite, and told incidentally about Venus' friendly little animals, the V-frogs, which have nearly human understanding. Later he discovers that Aphrodite's chief engineer controls the V-frogs (don't ask us how) so they can brief him on everybody's thoughts and in turn enable him to control the surroundings. Interesting time out of mind.
