A Plan for Happy Marriage and Living is perhaps not quite so definite a program as the sub-title would suggest, but it is an explicit and intelligent discussion of what is no longer a ""state"" but an ""adjustment"". Greater choice and freedom demand greater cooperation. Masculine and feminine differences are psychological as well as physical- but women today seek an equality which was not conceded to them before, and there are many areas of accommodation:- religion; sex; money- a major issue in half of the marriages- not how much, but how used; parenthood, and the many aspects from having a child to bringing it up; and the later years with the changes they bring. Paul Landis is a practical sociologist, and while he relies on others- Margaret Mead, Kinsey, etc. for the statistical evidence, he contributes a fair share of experienced advice and information, at more than a popularized level.
