A revealing story, if somewhat overlong, this is the somewhat cynical account of American-Indian affairs during the infant days of the Southwest territory. Dealing with General Quait's struggle to convince the majority that the Apache can be won by rust, the action of this novel takes place in an isolated, undermanned, ill equipped sert army post in Arizona. Paul Hogan's knowledge and deep understanding of the time nd locale give dimension to this novel which should find many readers among those nterested in frontier adventure and Indian history.
