KIRKUS REVIEW

The Ambassador Extraordinary to a small Caribbean Island is Sherman Biggs, a dolt, a and a conservative right of Goldwater, and, although married to Anna Belle, he is an easy pigeon for the cafe an lait charms of Juanita de Cespes. When Juanita quickly accomplishes his private defeat and public disgrace, Biggs is returned home, and Anna Belle divorces him. Further inquiries by Ben Caswell, a writer on an assignment there, bring to light the true nature of Juanita's dedication, not to her husband- a Staff General, or Biggs, but to a revolutionary who takes control of the island and creates a dictatorship there. With this abuse of her allegiance, and her love, Juanita retires from her role as an agent provocateur, finds a more worthy suitor, and there's another romance (Caswell's and Anna Belle) to complete a story which for this writer is just a little underweight. Still there are the cosmetic to chic touches which dress up yet another light entertainment.
