There are many books of sermons based on Jesus' seven words from the Cross; this one is different in that its texts for this series of sermons are taken from the recorded word of those who were the observers of and the participants in, the Crucifixion. The passersby, the soldiers, the hystanders, the chief priests, the centurion, the procurator and the revolutionary, all express themselves in characteristic ways with which the reader may easily, if unwillingly, identify himself.
