LITTLE BROWN BABY by Paul Laurence Dunbar

Pub Date: Feb. 20th, 1940
Publisher: Dodd, Mead

This is a selection of those poems of the famous Negro poet that children most enjoy. The majority of them are in dialect, which almost demands reading aloud by someone who can make the most of the lilt and music of the words and rhythm. There is a story quality in many of them that is particularly appealing to children. Bertha Rodgers, who has made the selection, has provided a biographical sketch, and Erick Berry has done delightful sketches. One could wish there had been more of them so that they need not to have been repeated. Age appeal spans early years and up.
