TOBY AND THE NIGHTTIME

Toby, a boy of the saw-dust, plaster type, and a stuffed dog, who are part store's window display, come to life after dusk and travel beyond the glass case to rescue an ocean liner, win a sports car race, retrieve a star from space, etc., etc. All in all, the story is quite bland; Toby has about as much enthusiastic originality as would be expected of a mannikin. Most children would be able to create more imaginative, vivid adventures themselves. The black and white pictures are flat, lacking spontaneity and much needed vitality.
