Realistic portrayals of a toddler's activities at the beginning and end of the day. Hearing small footsteps, sleepy Dad opens one eye and says, ""Somebody's awake."" Sure enough. Somebody is seen serving himself cereal and juice (messy but not disastrous) and bringing his reluctant but doting parents a cup of tea (hot water from the tap). In the other book, the same child falls asleep over the picture he's drawing but proves himself awake enough to make it upstairs to get ready for bed--though not for long enough to share a story. These affectionate glimpses of childhood are attractively portrayed in Corfield's soft watercolors. Useful for very small people who enjoy finding themselves in books.
