THE BIG BOOK OF FAVORITE HORSE STORIES

Of the 25 stories collected here, 7 are from full length books by authors such as: Steinbeck (The Red Pony); Jessamyn West (The Friendly Persuasion); Marguerite Henry (Misty of Chincoteague) and even Anna Sewall, whose Black Beauty has been winnowed for chapter length whinnies. This set of examples should indicate the fact that this anthology has a range of age levels, as well as quality, which go from the juvenile to the adult. Of the short stories included, the authors are all well known writers who have appeared in the better big magazines. The most outstanding of these is the original short story by Mary O'Hara on which the Flicka novel and movie were based.
