KIRKUS REVIEW

Young Brett was going to be a doctor, but he wanted a chance to ship with his grandfather on a whaler, a modern whaler in the Pacific, during the period preceding the opening of the college year. He got his chance, from the wrong end, for he was inadvertently a stowaway, and as such bitterly resented by the Scandinavian crew members, and virtually ignored by his grandfather. The experience taught him plenty, and proved his metal, and he won the respect of officers and crew.
