KIRKUS REVIEW

Peggy Bacon has a faculty for making her children live, and Eric, who yearned to get brown like the boys he was visiting, had a bad time of it when he turned a fiery red instead. So he joined forces with a small colored child, also the butt of jokes, and -- when she became involved in suspicion resulting from several disappearances Eric turned detective -- and rescued her. Good yarn.
