Gay, playful picture book about three brother pandas who yearned for a playmate outside the family. Then they found one, hiding behind a big tree. He was a shy little black bear and all Mother Panda's efforts to wash his coat white proved useless. Then his father's arrival cleared things up, and Daddy Black Bear and Daddy Panda were just as pleased with each other as the little pandas were with little Willie. The title- the names of the little pandas -- has that sort of appeal to the child who likes making up names that go together (check the favorite Snipp, Snapp, Snurr series if you wish) -- an added factor in popularity. The pictures in clear bright red, yellow, blue and black with lots of white space and enough action for even three year olds to follow make this a fresh addition to the nursery shelf. One could wish the price for a board cover, 28 page book, might be less.
