As might be expected by anyone familiar with her ways, when Amelia Bedelia is told to ""weed the garden"" she puts weeds in; she ""stakes the beans"" by tying steaks around them; and she ""dusts the bugs"" carefully until they shine. She throws scraps (of fabric) to the chickens, makes a tea cake with tea in it, and sews instead of sowing grass on the lawn. This time Amelia is on loan from the Rogers to ""grand,"" good-natured Miss Emma, and she brings along her own niece Effie Lou to help. Effie, who consistently accepts her aunt's interpretations of the orders, doesn't add much to the proceedings and the change of scene is only that; but Amelia Bedelia's fans will no doubt enjoy this latest round of misconstructions as much as any.
