THE DARK WOMAN

The complex cross patterns in the lives of six British officers as their wisnes of health, wealth, strength, courage, long life, and happiness are granted by an Indian fakir with whom they become enraged. None of the granted wishes brings contentment in their train, as first one -- then the others -- find that death, scandal, torture, insanity, and even murder follow the achievement of their ambitions. Throughout the lives and adventures of the six goes the ""dark woman"", also promised by the fakir, who brings disaster with her and finally is killed by the man who wanted courage.
