THE OXFORD ANTHOLOGY OF AMERICAN LITERATURE

This is an important item for permanent stock, and should roll up large sales for a long time to come. In the best tradition of the Oxford Press, this anthology of American literature is essentially modern in the inclusion of 20th century writers, while at the same time generous attention is given to our literary heritage. A fresh point of view in selection and critical approach, re-appraisal of major figures and periods, choice of the authoritative text available, and inclusion of some modern material in new, revised texts, prefaced by notes in which contemporaries explain their own literary objectives, -- all this makes the anthology unique. There is a circular available.
