A serious, informative interesting book that I insist, at the risk of using the stock phrase, should be in every gardener's library. It is a veritable mine of worthwhile information succinctly given. The chapters on lilies are particularly apropos at this time of growing interest in this superb flower. By those who care for rock gardens (not the blights with whitewashed stones), the chapter on bulbs for rock gardens will be received with fervent acclaim as it is full of delightful suggestions. The iris and its near relatives receive the large amount of space they deserve and here again the information is full and unhackneyed, in fact, there is a fresh and vital tone noticeable throughout the entire book. Even Africa, Mexico, and South America are noted and made absorbingly interesting.
