GARDEN DESIGN OF TODAY

As Mr. Cane says of small gardens ""some have an indefinable charm and without quite knowing why, one likes to be in them."" That is the secret of any successful garden and of this book. Your customers will discover a subtle charm to Mr. Cane's style, his sense of humor and sensitiveness in suiting his design to the place, be it large or small, that he is describing. His chapter on the small place is thoroughly delightful. His designs have none of the plot or backyard look, they are original, full of imagination and above all perfectly possible. The formal gardens are impressive and dignified without being cold. Throughout there are stunning photographs which profusely illustrate each type, fascinating sketches by Harold White. Your customers will learn the basic laws of design which so many of the other books neglect but they will also be filled with enthusiasm to go out and apply their knowledge. This is different. No matter how many previous books they have, this will be a useful addition; it would be an ideal book for Garden Clubs to study.
