KIRKUS REVIEW

Good entertainment -- if not exactly convincing. The scene is laid in San Francisco Bay, where the hero hears a pistol shot while on night duty on his grandfather's barge. A rich man has been murdered on his house boat. Good mystery elements -- the boy plays the part of hero -- and game shooting and deep sea fishing are a vital part of the story. No romance -- no girls!
