KIRKUS REVIEW

Not fiction in a strong narrative sense, this story of circus horses (only Abner is a mule) is really the biographies of the six -- what kind of horse they are, where they came from, how they happened to get into the circus, how they were trained, and what their acts consist of. The background material is interesting, sometimes unusual, and the circus feeling is authentic.
