OEOLO OF NIGERIA

By

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

The series previously published by Franklin Watts, continues under S & S with a glimpse into the world of a modern Nigerian boy. From the time a group of western children him by shouting ""Bush boy"", Okolo became aware of cultural differences. His answer to was education, and for a time, his uncle provided the funds for primary school. On the condition that he never forget his traditions, Okolo was permitted to attend the school in Onitsha, where he came in contact with modern civilization. Poverty causes the village to refuse Okolo tuition for secondary school, but when he passes the test of patience, he is promised another chance. On this hopeful note, the book ends, having offered a great deal of insight into the lives and ideas of a people between two worlds.
