A MUSICAL CHRISTMAS WITH PETER DUCHIN

Subtitled ""A Festival of Holiday Songs in New Arrangements for Piano and Guitar,"" this timely assemblage contains the music and lyrics for more than 50 works and notes on the sources of many of them. They range from traditional, well-known carols, primarily European in origin, to less familiar ones such as ""Huron Carol,"" a Canadian Indian song, and exclude the popular red-nose, white-Christmas variety. Accompanying the carols are contemporary woodcuts and engravings; printed in muted red or green on ivory paper, they include a page from the Rohan Heures, the Adoration of the Magi, an Iroquois Indian pictograph, old Christmas cards with fine lettering, a Thomas Nast etching, numerous unidentified wreaths, winter scenes, etc.; full-color Jamie Wyeth Santas adorn the jacket. A felicitous arrangement.
