THE FANTASTIC PULPS

English editor Haining has assembled a large collection of stories culled from the pulps which reached their apogee in the '30's, well before television, and catered to three genres--the hard-shelled mystery, sf, and weird tales, all represented here. But this inexpensive entertainment world (ten cents a throw at the dime store) husbanded a great deal of talent--to wit Jack London, Upton Sinclair, Sinclair Lewis, Hammett and Bradbury and Robert Bloch--those you'll best remember among the twenty-odd you might have forgotten or never read. In the inset of illustrations, some appropriate Boris Karioff/Fay Wray type illustrations.
