She Loves Me ($26.95; Oct.; 195 pp.; 8101-1557-3): This episodic dramatization of the various forms and consequences of love chronicles in 97 brief ``chapters'' its unnamed narrator's wide experience of women of all sorts. ``There's this woman. She loves me,'' or some contradiction or variant of the same, begins each of the segments (some occupying only a paragraph). Hungarian novelist Esterh†zy (The Glance of Countess Hahn-Hahn, 1995, etc.) cleverly suggests how a politically volatile country imbues its citizens with pent-up energies that must be spent somehow, and makes of his Casanova both a rather attractive cad and a seeker after ultimate satisfactions who's all too willing to settle for the carnal here and now.
