KIRKUS REVIEW

Basil the fox takes his friend Harry, a hole digging mole, to the beach, but every time Basil enters a contest--sandcastle building, fishing, sailboat racing--Harry somehow gets in the way of his winning. Of course Basil does win the diving prize when, in his wrath, he chases Harry into the water with a hop, skip and double somersault. But with one-trait tags for characters and an adventure that is just as flat, Basil and Harry aren't even runners-up.
