VIKINGS OF THE SUNRISE

A history of the Stone Age people who migrated from Asia and became the Polynesians of the South Seas. Dr. Buck is himself half-Maori, and is field archaeologist for the Bishop Museum in Honolulu. Against the history of the islands and the people, he gives a picture of manners, customs, legends and stories of each island group. Good background material for enthusiasts of the Nordhoff, Hall type of book. Easy reading, and yet scholarly enough to be a definite contribution to ethnology.
