PSYCHIC: The Story of Peter Hurkos

Peter Hurkos is what is known in psychic research as a ""sensitive"" and he describes his particular gift in this way: ""I respond immediately and directly to the thought waves thrown off by the subconscious mind... when I shake hands with a stranger I know all about him.... by touching (a) murdered person I have had a vision of the murderer..."" Mr. Hurkos claims that his readings of past, present and future events are 87% accurate, ""the percentage established by scientists after performing thousands and thousands of tests with me"". Some of the tests are detailed, along with many examples of public and private ESP demonstrations. Even so, they do not seem to be accredited by the American Society for Psychical Research nor does Mr. Hurkos seem to have much use for this long established and serious body of investigators. He is engaged in establishing The Peter Hurkos institute for Psychic Research and hoping for ""gifts and bequests of donors interested in advancing the study and use of psychic phenomena"".
