Might be called the adventures of a bum -- for that was the urge that drove a youth, born and bred in a comfortable English country home, educated at moderately good schools -- but finding it all unbearably dull, and feeling sure that the distant scene offered more. Go to Canada he went, where in due time he qualified as a range rider. The war brought him disillusionment and suffering and its share of excitement -- and left him pretty well down and out. So -- as pearl hunter -- horse breaker -- sheep header -- he made his way in Australia. A book for would-be adventures and fireside reading. Rather entertainingly written, but definitely a book of happenings rather than their effect on the writer.
