THE STARS IN OUR HEAVEN

By

Publisher: Pantheon

Hard to know how to classify this, which is partly astronomy, but chiefly mythology. Star gazers -- both of the scientific and romantic variety- will enjoy this sumptuous collection of star myths. For the scientific minded is offered the usual handy guides for the visual memory of seeing hunters, dragons and whatnot in the formations. The romantic will enjoy the mythology as straight fiction. Greek and Roman myths are familiar from other sources; those of the Far East and the Near East have a kind of brocaded, langorous charm that should provide new inspiration for library story tellers. Within the scope of the myths and fables the author has included odd bits of information. Effective drawings and diagrams by Anne Marie Jauss.
