KIRKUS REVIEW

This differs from books of similar title in being a basic book for all sorts of group organization (church, club, Lodge, labor, politics, etc.) -- rather than being directed primarily to the woman's club leader. Against an introductory section outlining training for leadership and personality attributes, the author goes on to indicate the hurdles and pitfalls and how to get around and through them. How to get work done, how to pick committee chairmen and keep them interested, how to do a good secretarial job, how to handle membership, audiences, etc. A good deal of space is given to public speaking, after dinner speaking, serving as toastmaster, organizing discussion groups, planning a club program on public speaking. Each chapter has an excellent bibliography; and the appendix lists a minimum club reference library.
