THE SWEETWATER POINT MOTEL

Sadistic, quasi-pornographic melodrama. Edith Burrows and her daughters are missing--so Edith's brother-in-law Philip flies to the US from England to search for them; after all, he has asked Edith to marry him. (Edith's husband and Philip's wife were killed two years ago in an auto accident, clearly while on an adulterous escapade.) Philip traces Edith's rented red Pinto down to Cape Hatteras in the dead of winter, is befriended and bedded by cafe waitress Bonnie--who begins helping with the search. Then, in flashback, we find out what happened to Edith: she and her daughters got stuck in a swamp while driving in a storm and were rescued by creeps: 17-year-old moron Tommy and coke addict James Dade, who is shacking up in his father's deserted Sweetwater Point Motel with his twisted girlfriend Candice. Result? Multiple rapes, a lesbian assault on 12-year-old daughter Katy, and Tommy's infatuation with Abigail. Back in the present, then, sleuthing Philip is roughed up in a porno-film/fishing tackle shop, discovers a photo of Tommy and Abigail, and picks up the trail. Too late, however: everybody but Katy winds up dead. Foul, dumb, and sick-o.
