To relate the experiences of his expedition to the mouth of Perry River, some 500 miles northwest of Hudson Bay, Scott kept a careful day to day diary describing their life, their observations of birds from Ross's geese to king eiders, their intermittent contacts with the Eskimos of the little known Kogmuit tribe. A careful observer, many of Scott's passages capture the wonder and color of the arctic. His drawings and the photographs are very good.
