More about wild geese than Eskimos, this will nevertheless interest the naturalist-explorer market as well as the Peter Scott market, (he has written and illustrated two others) if not the anthropological one. To relate the experiences of his expedition to the mouth of Perry River, some 500 miles northwest of Hudson Bay, Scott kept a careful day to day diary describing their life, their observations of birds from Ross's geese to king eiders, their intermittent contacts with the Eskimos of the little known Kogmuit tribe. A careful observer, many of Scott's passages capture the wonder and color of the arctic. His drawings and the photographs are very good.
