... again. Like Ed Emberley's lark (1039, J-357), this is a line-by-line visualization of the rhyme, with music and history (in detail) appended: unlike Emberley's, this is a literal—albeit lively—recreation of eighteenth century London, a bustling, bursting world in miniature. If we were choosing, we'd take two of Emberley (for wit and imagination) to one of Spier, but youngsters do deserve a look at the thieves making away with the silver and gold (and locked up in the tower later), at them watchman checking each shop (and fishing in his spare time).
