SCRAP WOOD CRAFT

Weiss offers sketchy instructions for making a predictable variety of objects out of scrap wood scrounged from lumber yards or discarded crates and furniture parts picked up in alleys or attics. His games and toys include flat bowling pins and plank people; among the practical items suggested are stands for plants and for bicycles. Like the author's Balsa Wood Crafts (1972), this also features boats, trucks, and doll house furniture, and there is a doll house of wine boxes to which children are told to glue pictures of windows, fireplaces, clocks, etc., cut from home decorating magazines. Tacky.
