Things are getting curiouser and curiouser"" exclained Alice as she grew...and grew...and grew. In the BIG world of the overweight society, the inhabitants seem to feel the same way. This book explores the varied menu of Dietland-U.S.A. There's the monotony of Metrecal offset by more exotic dishes like TOPS, an Alcoholics Anonymous type of organization for eaters, with its founder Mrs. Manz. She helps propagandize by signing letters ""see you lighter."" And there are the more mystic clubs where the spirit is nourished while the body's denied. This is not always filling however as in the case of ""The Golden Door"" when four of its inhabitants secretly purchased a 15 1b. turkey, smuggled it in for a midnight orgy and then buried the bones in the garden. Added ingredients include a look at exercise enthusiasts, salon operators, No-Cal foods, fads, phonies and fools. A sugarless plum for the conscientious objector.
