KIRKUS REVIEW

A small town story -- somewhat made to a pattern, with the usual quota of small town characters. The central character is a store keeper who tries to save the banker, his friend of boyhood days, from his own worst self. Good sentiment -- and therefore can be counted on for sales and rentals to your conservatives who want that sort of thing -- but there's nothing particularly to distinguish it from numerous others in the same vein.
