The pictures are worth the cost of the book and then some -- utterly delightful soft pencil drawings reproduced by offset, and suggesting portraits of actual dogs. The text is rather far-fetched and artificial -- carries no illusion and the interest lies chiefly in the double meanings back of the political and social activities of a group of dogs that decide to establish their own town. Recalling Where the Blue Begins, this seems a third rate job.
