KIRKUS REVIEW

Good football story, ably presented- in a High School story as packed with action and high thrills as an actual game played on the gridiron. Tom Minton, desiring to be a star, fights his fear of fear, of getting hurt, and learns to work through the team, and to develop his natural aptitudes for punting and passing. His eventual victory is a victory over his own fears as well as over the adversaries. Most of the story is seen through Tom's own impressions, what he sees and fears, why he fears and what he hopes, making the reader's identification with him possible. Friendships give the book another dimension.
