THE CITY GARDENER

Books on city gardening are few and far between; the best to date are no longer available. Now comes this -- far more comprehensive than any other, and covering penthouse gardening, terrace gardening, as well as city backyard gardening. Comparatively little space is devoted to architectural features. The emphasis is on soil conditioning, on types of containers, planter boxes, tubs and so on and throughout on selection of material:- trees, shrubs, vines, perennials, annuals, bulbs, house plants on outdoor lease, and so on. The Truexes deserted the theatre for their new love, city gardening, and run a successful business helping others to successful ventures. Perhaps- for those with more problems than they seem to have had- it is all made to sound too delightfully easy. However with the basic principles outlined thoroughly established it might work out that way.
