TRAVELERS IN TIME

Here, with emphasis on time, past, present and future, Stern gives us another excellent collection of story tellers who provide entertainment in describing the many ways in which the fetters of time are broken. There are, naturally, pieces by H.G. Wells, Conan Doyle, Machen, Coppard, Blackwood, Priestley; less obviously, he includes Thurber, F. Scott Fitzgerald, James Stephens, Lady Eleanor Smith, Kipling, Maugham, D.H. Lawrence, Katherine Fullerton Gerould. 24 tales in which reality becomes strange and fantasy is disciplined to the basic themes.
