There are attractive Attle landscapes here for a part time mystery, part time romance which brings two months widowed, to Rhodes, with her young daughter and with the older woman, Fernanda Farrar, still fiercely protective of Gino whom had married and later found to be a thoroughly bad lot. Accordingly, Fernanda dismisses as imaginary all of suspicions that she is being shadowed and there are several unnerving episodes. Only a young American believes her and helps her to follow through from a cryptic letter to the stolen, and buried, statuary to which it .... Perhaps more out in the open than really up in the air- but still, granted a feminine readership, pleasant and light entertainment.
