LEVEL CROSSINGS

Here's a bitter disappointment, for all who admired her Private Worlds. It's an unconvincing melodramatic story of an international marriage:- a son of a rich man who spurns the luxuries his mother thrusts upon him, and who brings home a poor but proud Scotch lass, who runs hauck of the mother-in-law, is kidnapped in Greenwich, driven in the flick of an eye to the middle western plains, and who escapes with a day old baby. Poor plot mediocre characterization -- and lacks evidence of any sort of research into either American geography or gangsters.
