GRANNY'S FISH STORY

Julie's Granny wears sneakers and jeans and lives in the woods, and when Julie and her friend Sarah are invited overnight Julie is afraid Sarah is too dressed up for the country. Then there's a storm in the night and Sarah wakes up screaming about the ""swamp halibut"" and ""bush mackerel"" Granny had joked about. It turns out though that Granny as a little girl had also believed ""just a little"" in the fabulous fish and had even been afraid of storms until her Granny held her on her lap and showed her how beautiful and exciting they were. Well the same treatment works for the gifts too and Sarah likes the country so much she even finds a mud turtle and tadpole she wants to take home. This was written as a sort of tribute to the author's mother who is no doubt a better Granny than this is a story.
