KIRKUS REVIEW

Kate takes on the whole neighborhood in this read-to-yourself book. While Kate is properly impressed with the size and importance of all of her grown up neighbors, from the family next door to the Fire Chief at his station, she is stubborn about their cats--exactly who owns them, how they behave and the treatment of strays. Some of the words in the text are challenging in terms of length and shape, but these also turn out to be easy to sound. The illustrations are in miniature and miss no amusing detail of stance or expression in showing Kate, the wild cat crusader.
