As in her Civil War book, Brother Against Brother, Phyllis Fenner scrutinizes the American Revolution, crucial in the history of this country, approaching it from the poing of view of the men who participated in it and of their emotions. In this collection to which such prominent writers as Stephen Vincent Benet and Howard Pyle have contributed there are stories of battle, humor, and romance: A young Continental falls in love with a Tory spy, a brother turns against brother in a clash of loyalties, a Massachusetts farmer seeks a new tooth from that prominent dentist and silversmith, Paul Revere. In all a dozen stories, this collection imparts much of the history of the revolution woven into a fabric of compelling fiction.
