Culled from the pulps of the '40's and '50's, ten adventures with sharks, squalls, seafloor mud and sunken galleons, with some primitive macho and paternal or malevolent motivation thrown in to get the participants underway. There's a negligible C.S. Forester, a tiresome Paul Annixter, a cave diving anecdote from Cousteau's The Silent World and a trick ending Arthur C. Clarke about a sunken sputnik and a Hungarian diver's revenge. The other names by now have unregrettably washed away.
