REACHING OUT IN MANAGEMENT

*The author of the excellent Bottom UP Management (1949) with an even more significant book on the building of leaders. Chairman of the Board in the American Brake Shoe Company, Mr. Given discusses his personal philosophy and that of his company in the handling of men at every level of management. There is warmth and understanding, a deep sincerity and determination to discover ways and means of bringing out the best in each employee. His policy of ""reaching out"" in order to insure happiness and high production carries an inspirational, almost a religious fervor. He does not stop at the individual man or the individual job, but sees it as an overall policy, even to the relating of business to the community. There's a contagious quality to his writing, a sharing of his eagerness, a practical aspect in his illustrations of application to all types of operation that makes this a book top management can recommend throughout an organization.
